The Offense

Philip Rivers is a top tier NFL quarterback. Head Coach Mike McCoy and the rest of the NFL know that. The challenge here is to give Rivers some weapons to work with and some time to work the offense. The offensive line is being rebuilt to that end, as San Diego brought in Orlando Franklin to play guard and Chris Watt matures into a dependable center. With King Dunlap at tackle, the Chargers can protect Rivers blind side and build on their running game.

Free agency brings former 49er Stevie Johnson to play wide receiver and he should help in the development of the promising Keenan Allen, who must man up and play to his potential every game. If he does, watch out, he’s dangerous. Of course, Antonio gates is back at Tight End, still playing and playing well though he may see his snaps limited to keep him fresh.

With Ryan Mathews off to the Eagles, fresh legs were a must. San Diego took a shot, trading up to pick Melvin Gordon in the draft. Gordom brings an explosive running style that gave him 2,587 yards his last season at Wisconsin. Gordon is shifty and hard to tackle, and can beat defenders to the edge. His presence in the backfield will be a boon to Philip Rivers.

The Defense

John Pagano will have to find a way to get his unit to jell in the preseason for the Chargers to improve in 2015. The building blocks are there, with safety Eric Weddle working the middle of the secondary and Defensive End Corey Liuget providing the pass rush. There are also some promising youngsters. Jeremiah Attaochu is an up and coming linebacker and Jason Verrett at corner are just two of those youngsters. Otherwise the field is wide open for Pagano to remold his defense into a consistent unit that can slow down opponents and give the offense field position.

The Gut Check

Finding a way to beat the Broncos is a must if the San Diego Chargers want a shot at the AFC West. If that doesn’t happen, the Chargers are still a legitimate contender for a playoff spot. Give Rivers some help on offense, play to defensive strength, and Chargers tickets should make some West Coast fans very happy.

The AFC West has been owned by the San Diego Chargers, although it hasn’t always been easy. The epic clashes with the Broncos are always good Chargers tickets. In 2015 the Kansas City Chiefs are expected to be much improved, lending some punch to the battle for the AFC West. In addition, San Diego will be playing host to the defending NFC West Champion Arizona Cardinals, the New England Patriots, and a rising San Francisco 49ers team with high hopes. Looks like Qualcomm Stadium and San Diego Chargers tickets will be winners no matter what.

San Diego Chargers Tickets – Claiming 2010

It’s been too many years of frustration for the San Diego Chargers and they believe the 2010 NFL season will belong to them. Just winning the AFC West and making the playoffs won’t be enough payoff for Chargers tickets. This season only a Super Bowl win will suffice. San Diego has experienced tremendous highs and tremendous lows over the course of the past five years. Long winning streaks, high expectations, then injuries, and the eventual crash that leaves Chargers fans scratching their heads. Philip Rivers and Norv Turner don’t intend to let that happen again. This is a new San Diego Chargers team, still deeply talented and explosive, but focused solely on winning the ultimate prize. Catch the reward for all their hard work with San Diego Chargers tickets.

2010 San Diego Chargers – Philip River Team

The gradual transition into a team that belongs to Philip Rivers and not LaDainian Tomlinson has occurred over the last two seasons. The Pro Bowl running back has faded into the background and now Philip Rivers has arisen as the leader of this tea. Along the way the Chargers have evolved from a run oriented team into one of the highest scoring teams in the NFL, relying on the passing game to put points on the board. In 2009 River topped the 4,000 yard mark and threw 28 touchdown passes. More importantly, Philip Rivers is the guy Chargers players turn to when the going gets tough. His rapport with wide receiver Vincent Jackson and tight end Antonio Gates makes the Chargers offense as dangerous as any in the league. The emergence of running back Ryan Mathews as a pounding back, and the quick hits of Darren Sproles, gives the San Diego Chargers a potent running game to finish things off.

There have been some big changes on the defensive side of the ball also. Defensive Coordinator Ron Rivera inherited a team with basically no pass defense and elevated them into the upper half of the NFL. Using Shawne Merriman and Shaun Philips as outside pass rushers from a 3-4 attack, Rivera can pressure quarterbacks while stopping the run in the middle. He’ll have to meet the challenge of replacing Antonio Cromartie, but with 1st Rounder Antoine Cason coming into his own, the San Diego Chargers match up well with most anyone.
